I went to my first spokane critical "mass" today. A grand total of 5 people. Congratulations Spokane, you officially have the worst critical "mass" in America. I'm talking any bike here, fixed or otherwise. The four people were Chris, Aaron, Bryce, "Tie-dye," and myself. We lost Tie-dye as soon as we hit the streets as he tried to fight some dude. Ended up going out and gettin some drinks and hung out in Brownes Addition for awhile... Good times.
I'll be there next month, same time and place.
P.S. This will be a photo blog soon, if anyone's actually reading... and cares.

Shootdang, I forgot about CM. I have been working Fridays all day 9-9 for the past four to five months, right when that pesky Mass convenes. Now that I'm working a new gig, I'm able! If only I can remember. Calendar's set! September!!!
I never join critical mass anymore because it always turns out to be a bunch of kids flipping people off and just trying to piss off motorists in general, and it sounds like the last one is no exception. Obviously that does nothing to help us get bike lanes or raise awareness for cyclists, which is the whole point of critical mass in the first place. Keep us posted though, because if it turns into an actual, civil, down to earth, rational, progressive event, then I know plenty of people who would ride.
It will turn in to that if people like you start showing up, instead of waiting for other people to change it. You want that kind of shit to stop, show up and ask them to yourself. Talking about change does nothing.
Fair enough. If I want critical mass to change I will have to help make that happen. But it is not worth it (risking getting in a fight, getting arrested, getting run over) when I can focus my time and energy on helping those who are actually making headway in promoting cycling and helping make the city a safe place to ride.
One problem with critical mass is that the spokane police decided to heavily target it which led to arrests and prosecutions. I am a criminal defense attorney in the spokane area and would be interested in getting cm going in a positive direction if possible. Also am looking for a fixed gear bike-any advice? Please reply back if you can help.
I am kinda nervous cuz tomorrow is hopefully going to be my first ever CM...if I don't get asked to stay late at work. As for a fixed gear bike, I actually inquired at Wheel Sport about their selection earlier this week. They have a few good ones in stock, but if you don't like what they have, they can order one for you. ~Jennie Pennie
Hi,
I live in Miami, FL will be in Spokane at the end of July to possibly join a critical mass ride. Is there a critical mass ride at Spokane anymore?
